Overview:
Since 1419 Rouen had served as the English center of administration in Northern France. In 1449, spurred on my local French troops, the people of Rouen revolted against the English. Edmund Beaufort, the Duke of Somerset, was unable to stop the uprising and he was forced to surrender the city on October 10th.
